This thesis is a historical fiction children's novel aimed at a demographic of 10--15-year-olds. Three children, Asher Quinn, Sofia Zavos, and Tor Tumpe, are sent back in time to New York, 1929, during the week of the stock market crash. Originally sent on a mission to find and rescue Asher's grandfather, the three are split up and carry out their own adventures. Asher discovers that he has an awakening power within him that enables him to sense the sound resonance of everything in existence, just as any normal person would be able to see things with their sense of sight. Sofia marches with a troupe of women's rights enthusiasts, only to be captured and forced into illegal child labor. By escaping, she's able to free the other children being held captive. Tor takes to Harlem, and thus by, goes on an inner journey, struggling with the history of his people in America, and the rampant racism that the American system enacts in order to keep African Americans under control and inferior. In the end, the three have not found Asher's grandfather, and need to jump through another portal in an attempt to find him further back in time. However, their trip was more of a success than a failure in the personal growth each was able to make.
